Dark Gray Mosaic Bathroom with Tub in Carson

A full bathroom renovation in a Carson home, combining dark gray large-format tile on the main walls with a dark mosaic accent panel on the tub surround side. The built-in bathtub deck and the tub-to-wall transition are tiled in the same large-format material as the walls.

The tub deck is a wet area and was waterproofed before tiling. The tub-to-tile transition at the rim is sealed with silicone rather than grout. This is a critical detail — grout at the tub rim will crack over time because the tub flexes slightly when filled with water. A silicone joint accommodates that movement without cracking. We use color-matched silicone so the joint is not visually obvious.

The mosaic accent panel on the tub surround required careful alignment with the large-format tile field on the adjacent wall so the grout lines would not create a discordant visual break at the transition.
