Concrete-Look Tile Bathroom in Harbor Gateway

Sleek bathroom with large-format gray concrete-look tiles, round mirror, and black fixtures in a Harbor Gateway home

About This Project

A full bathroom tile replacement in a Harbor Gateway home, using large-format gray concrete-look porcelain on both the floor and walls. The matte surface and minimal grout lines give the room a clean, contemporary look that suits the black fixtures and round backlit mirror.

Concrete-look porcelain in a matte finish has a surface texture that requires careful cleaning during grouting. Matte tile holds grout haze more tenaciously than polished tile, so we used a grout release agent on the tile surface before grouting and cleaned the haze off within the working time window before it hardened. The floor and wall tiles are the same material and format, which required careful layout planning to align the grout lines across the transition from vertical to horizontal surfaces.
